  »Redesigned
October 24th, 2009

Well, I finally redesigned the blog so it now goes with the scheme of the rest of the site.

Okay, to be honest, I basically stole it from this LiveJournal layout, but it still took forever to do all the tweaking and implementation of WordPress and everything, especially because I’m used to only using CSS for basic styling like links and fonts, whereas this was a bit more complicated. It was fun to do, though, because now I know how the real world uses CSS rather than being stuck in 2001 with my HTML skills (or lack thereof).

I suspect I’ll run into some errors, but this section of the site isn’t used much anyway, and I’m not sure if many people read it, so I don’t know if it really matters. Of course, saying that makes me feel a bit silly for having spent half my day redesigning this, but, hey, maybe I’ll make this into something better in the future. I keep telling myself that.

  1. Looking good! Perhaps you could try a slightly larger font to make things more readable? (or maybe that’s just my screen… btw I’m using Firefox 3.5)

  2. Thanks! The small font is the result of me being still stuck in the days of 2001-ish preteen personal sites where tiny fonts were considering kewl, and I still do think it looks cute, although, you’re right, it’s not very functional. Fixed!

Can you let me know if you get an email notification about this reply? If you did, actually, I might have accidentally sent you a million test replies. Oops. Sorry if I spammed your inbox.

Grr, now I just have to figure out why comments aren’t nested.

  3. Well if you’ve got an artistic reason for the smaller font then stick with it! I only got one email reply. As for the nested comments, I just used so I don’t know why they aren’t listing for you.

  4. I just used wp_list_comments() in my template… somehow it cut out that word in my previous comment.
